The Chief Sales and Marketing Officer will be responsible for overall strategic planning and administration of the Sales, Account Management, and Marketing functions.  Develop a sales and account management strategy that supports organizational initiatives and further penetrates new and existing business. Assess all existing sales operations, broker relationships, distribution channels and product strategies to identify opportunities to enhance the organization's reputation as a provider of quality, affordable healthcare products. Oversee the activities of the sales force and develops overall new sales and renewal goals. Oversee the development, management, and administration of incentive compensation programs designed to drive profitable growth.


What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external business partners to achieve financial objectives while providing the very best in products and customer focus.
  • Develop the overall sales and account management strategy for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska. Articulate the vision for sales and account management. Clarify the results and successes needed to achieve financial and growth goals.
  • Create a customer-aligned organization, aware of the competition, and able to foresee and implement best practice solutions that will ensure a continued external growth mindset.
  • Direct the activities of the sales force and account management teams
  • Drives sales revenue growth through outstanding product delivery, superior sales execution and strong retention outcomes.
  • Provide leadership to the organization as it adjusts to an ever-changing marketplace.
  • Represent the organization in the community with respect to Sales & Marketing related matters.
  • Contribute to the company’s short and long-term strategic operating plan.


To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Ten (10) successful years of experience as a senior level executive with a record of accomplishment.
  • Ten years of work experience in sales and account management 
  • Experience in the Financial Services or Insurance Industry
  • Knowledge of large group, small group, individual, Medicare and self-funded markets.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships through all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership, managerial and supervisory skills.
  • The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments.
  • The ability to work well in a team environment, and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.

The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:

  • Underwriting and Employee Benefit Certifications
  • Knowledge of the Nebraska health insurance marketplace
  • Master’s Degree
