Responsible for managing both the Mid and Major account groups (+100), and Small account groups (2-99) in the sales of BCBSNE products. Utilize vast knowledge of all types of self-funding contracts, specifically ASO arrangements. The sales are targeted to groups that are based in Nebraska and are not currently BCBSNE customers, and are solicited through brokers and consultants.  Responsible for achieving assigned sales goals through effective management of the sales teams. In addition, collaborates with the executive & senior management team in defining and developing the company’s ongoing group product marketing strategies. This position will also collaborate with the Product Management team and other corporate resources to drive product/market direction and assist in building out the company’s product and value added’ service portfolio.  This position will be responsible for creating strategic business and product/service plans to ensure maximum customer appeal and satisfaction while driving membership and gross margin growth.  This position also acts as a focal point to identify potential business and/or market opportunities that enhance the overall position of the Company.

 

What you'll do:

  • Manage the Mid-Major and Small group sales team
  • Coordinate and strategize with internal departments on how to write groups, putting together a strategic road map for each case.
  • Develop relationships and work with local and nationally based brokers and consultants.
  • Manage sales leadership activities and strategies for the groups’ marketplace, driving strategic decision making on plan platform capabilities and plan platform choice.
  • Assist in defining the product roadmap in the long, mid and short term incorporating customer needs, market research and input and feedback from other internal and external groups. Assist the Product Management team in definition of product requirements that will guide the development efforts
  • Maintain high level community relationships to include attending external meetings, events, and functions regarding potential business for BCBSNE.
  • Work with cross-functional representatives to develop pricing, packaging and positioning of products and services to ensure cohesive strategy across product lines.
  • Responsible for staff development and management of department budget

 

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Health Administration or Economics
  • Seven (7) years experience in health insurance sales management 
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted to meet this requirement.
  • Experience developing key business sales strategies for health insurance or other long sales cycle products.
  • Demonstrated success in selling and servicing products to Large and/or Small accounts in a broker centric environment
  • Cross functional management experience in the execution of corporate strategies in or to achieve company revenue and customer satisfaction objectives

 

The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:

  • One (1)  year experience in a Director or upper management role
