Jr Accountant - Fixed Assets

Responsible for setting up, retiring and depreciating fixed assets, including reconciliation of all asset accounts and preparation of all related external and internal reporting related to fixed assets.  Assist with the preparation of various tax functions. Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual external and internal reporting. Backup the Jr accountant – cash.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for setting up, retiring and depreciating fixed assets.
  • Prepare property tax returns in multiple Nebraska counties.
  • Prepare the Nebraska Employment and Investment Growth Act (LB775) credit annual filing.
  • Prepare Annual Capital Expenditures survey.
  • Prepare miscellaneous monthly entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare various schedules related to both internal and external filings (i.e., NAIC and DOI).
  • Gather data necessary for completing the Company's Federal and state tax returns.
  • Gather data necessary for completing the quarterly and annual current and deferred tax provisions.
  • Gather data necessary for completing quarterly Federal income tax estimates and payments.
  • Prepare internal and external cash flow statements.
  • Research and communicate any accounting discrepancies.
  • Perform and/or participate in special projects as directed.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Associate Degree in Accounting and 1 year of experience in accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted to meet this requirement.
  • A high degree of PC skills including MS excel, MS word, and familiarity with web based applications
  • High standard for accuracy
  • The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments.
  • The ability to work well in a team environment, and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.

The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
