This role will provide support and first line leadership to the finance team.  Key responsibilities will include accounting for all Rx Rebate activity, Rate Stabilization Reserves, Reporting for Gross Margin and Underwriting and Investment Exhibit.

What you'll do:

  • Supervise and assist the assigned team/s with accounting of gross margin by completing monthly accounting of RX Rebates, receivable, payable and distribution to appropriate lines of business to include quarterly aging and SSAP 84 disclosure footnote.
  • Calculate the Rate Stabilization Reserves on major lines of business.
  • Support assigned teams in maintaining multiple Excel spreadsheets and Data Marts and review internal and external reports.
  • Review and post journal entries within the scope of the role, complete reconciliation review, and sign off on GL balances as needed.
  • Assist with monthly gross margin analysis as assigned.
  • Support and review quarterly statutory exhibits to be filed with the NAIC and DOI.
  • Controls for SOC 1.
  • Responsible for providing information and answering all audit inquiries on the above assigned accounts for internal and external audits including SOC 2, Group Audits, MAR compliance and Annual Financial audit.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Accounting, or a related field is required.
  • 3 years of accounting experience, including insurance industry accounting (BCBS experience preferred), and 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with financial and reporting systems
  • Demonstrated experience in performing issue research and resolution
  • The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments.
  • The ability to work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.

The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:

  • CPA preferred
