As a member of an Agile team, you will be focused on analyzing, operating, engineering and architecting technology solutions. You will also be expected to support your team in Agile ceremonies and processes such as story writing, standups, release planning, sprint planning etc. This highly empowered environment will grant you have great freedom to achieve while also demanding a high level of responsibility.

What you'll do:

  • Design, implement and manage the operations of network infrastructure components in a hybrid environment with a focus on Azure.
  • Deliver on commitments for network-based projects with a high degree of quality and collaboration.  
  • Perform problem troubleshooting and resolution, including interaction with site contacts, carriers, vendors, and BCBSNE’s leadership teams. 
  • Proactively monitor BCBSNE’s core networks, components, and associate connections to detect and resolve problems and ensure uninterrupted operations of the networks. 
  • Build, support and maintain the wired and wireless infrastructure. 
  • Contribute to the leadership of the networking team as we implement software defined networks and constantly look for ways to build the networks of our future. 
  • Plan, evaluate and execute network maintenance activities. 
  • Participate in updating and revising policies, procedures, technical reports, documentation, and internal training material. 
  • Plan, evaluate and execute on-prem and Azure networking.
  • Evaluate, develop business cases, and recommend new technologies and cost-effective solutions. 
  • Support development and management of the annual budget.
  • Mentor Network Administrators.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on call rotation.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or another technology-related field, or comparable work experience.
  • Five years of experience in networking role.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire technical skills and develop familiarity with industry or specialized products/systems.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for technical problem solving abstract and logical thinking and collaboration.  
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities. 
  • Demonstrated experience designing multiple infrastructure administration systems, tools, services, and architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, administering, and modernizing infrastructure as a service (Iaas) environment- private, public and hybrid cloud.
  • Have a solid understanding of Azure Express Route
  • Have a solid understanding of Palo Alto NGFWs.
  • Have a solid understanding of Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Have a solid understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
  • Have a solid understanding of B2B VPN configurations.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills.
  • The ability to meet or exceed attendance and timeliness requirements for their team/department.
  • The ability to work well in a team environment and build/maintain positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.
  • Working knowledge designing, implementing, and administering engineering solutions including using tools from our technology stack.

The strongest candidates will also possess one or more of the following:

  • Certificates relating to hybrid cloud technologies including Azure.
  • A solid understanding of network engineering best practices and concepts
  • Enthusiasm for working with Agile processes (Scrum/Kanban/TDD/XP/...) in a team environment
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in a hybrid cloud environment.
