BCBSNE is happy to offer four work designations for our Omaha area employees: 100% in-office, Hybrid options, and 100% remote. If choosing to work remote, this role can be located in one of the following states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Texas.
The Vendor Contract Manager is an expert in third-party vendor contracts and is responsible for new contracts, contract renewals and contract terminations. In this role you will be responsible for contract creation, lead negotiator, and analysis to ensure adherence to third party policy and procedure. You will work in a dynamic environment where you will be expected to build strong internal & external business relationships, provide expertise to & identify and deliver optimal solutions.
What you'll do:
- Prepare simple to complex agreements based upon legal contracting standards and unique deal terms or requests. Review vendor redlines/ comments/ issues and suggesting alternative language/ responses. Negotiate contract terms directly with the vendor.
- Provide consultation with business stakeholders to identify and deliver optimal business solutions. Conduct analysis of vendor contracts and identify inconsistencies with contract standards, business goals and company initiatives. May include written executive summary of vendor contracts.
- Utilize a contract management system to update and maintain all vendor contracts; Adhere to the contract management system workflow processes.
- Accurately administer vendor contract termination templates, letters, notifications, certificates, etc. Coordinating follow-ups and manage the return, completion or any exceptions requiring additional reviews for certificates of destruction which apply to PHI and PII.
- Create and maintain contract templates.
- Assist in the development and executive of the vendor management roadmap.
- Update, maintain and support compliance and process policies.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Contract Law, Legal, Compliance, Supply Chain, or related field
- Minimum 5 years related work experience in legal, contract law, contact compliance, governance, sourcing, or procurement with specific experience reading, interpreting, understanding, and drafting contract language.
- Ability to conduct needs analysis, understand strategic business initiatives, define requirements, recommend solutions, and influence decisions.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Prior vendor management/3rd party experience, including application of risk assessment, procurement contracting provisions and contracting processes and how to leverage optimal outcomes with long-term best value results
- 5 to 7 years’ experience with contract administration and negotiation including interpretation of contract provisions. Expertise in utilization of vendor contract management software.
Preferred Experience:
- Juris Doctor and seven years of progressive experience working in a law firm, legal department of a corporation, or in a capacity requiring delivering legal services to clients
The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:
- Preferred experience in health insurance
- Lead negotiator and will be the primary point person on vendor negotiations
- Ability to communicate with all levels in an organization
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.
The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments.
The ability to work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.
